Making a Difference
Volunteering as Interpreters at the Free Community Health Clinic
On Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, 2025, our team proudly joined dozens of other volunteers at the Free Community Health Clinic hosted at Sacramento Adventist Academy.
This annual event brings together medical, dental, vision, and wellness professionals to provide care — at no cost — to community members who need it most.
We were honored to serve as interpreters, helping patients communicate clearly with their healthcare providers. Language should never be a barrier to receiving quality care, and it was deeply rewarding to ensure that every patient could understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and follow-up instructions.
Throughout the weekend, we assisted speakers of Russian and Ukrainian, guiding them through medical forms, answering questions, and supporting conversations with doctors, nurses, and specialists.
Why This Matters?
For many in our community, this was their first time receiving certain health services. By bridging the language gap, we helped patients feel comfortable, informed, and respected. Every smile, every “thank you,” and every look of relief reminded us why volunteering matters so much.
We are grateful to the organizers, healthcare professionals, and all the volunteers who made this event possible. It was inspiring to witness so many people coming together for the shared purpose of compassion and service.
We look forward to continuing our involvement in future clinics — and encourage anyone with bilingual skills to consider volunteering. The impact you can make is truly life-changing.
