MISI Community Solutions Featured in The Sacramento Bee
MISI Community Solutions continues to receive growing media attention for the work our team is doing across California’s communities. We are grateful to see publications taking an interest not only in MISI’s growth, but in the people, communities, and purpose behind our work.
Recently, The Sacramento Bee visited our Roseville office and published an in-depth feature exploring who we serve, how our team works, and how MISI has evolved over the years.
We’d like to share a few highlights from the article with our community.

A Multilingual Team Built Around the Communities We Serve
One of the first things The Sacramento Bee noticed inside our Roseville office was the diversity of languages being spoken throughout the workplace.
Through our multilingual team, MISI helps Medi-Cal members better understand and navigate healthcare and community resources, including care coordination, housing navigation, doula services, and connections to other available support.

— Yelena ObutkovaMISI initially worked primarily with members of the Slavic community. Today, our team and the communities we serve represent many different cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
Meeting People Where They Are
The Sacramento Bee also highlighted the variety of circumstances that bring people to MISI. Some members face language barriers. Others may be navigating the healthcare system for the first time, searching for stable housing, raising young families, living on fixed incomes, or trying to understand what resources may be available to them.
That is where the human side of MISI’s work becomes especially important: helping people understand their options, navigate available resources, and connect with appropriate services when they qualify.

— Alina MukhopadhyayThe Sacramento Bee traces MISI’s story back to 2012, when the organization began with a small team helping people enroll in Medi-Cal.
A major new chapter began with California’s CalAIM initiative, which created opportunities for organizations such as MISI to provide additional care coordination and Community Supports services for eligible Medi-Cal members.
Since then, MISI has grown from approximately five employees to more than 200, with locations in Roseville, Sacramento, and Fresno.
When Members Become Part of the Team
One of the most meaningful stories featured in the article is that of Roseville Office Manager Milana Archakova.
Before joining MISI as an employee, Milana had come to the organization as a member after arriving in California from southern Russia. She later saw an opportunity to use her own experience to help others navigating similar circumstances.

— Milana ArchakovaShe joined MISI as a housing navigation specialist and later advanced to her current role as Roseville Office Manager.
Her experience represents something especially meaningful to our organization: the people MISI serves are not simply numbers or cases. Every person has a story, and sometimes those stories come full circle.
Looking Toward What Comes Next
The Sacramento Bee feature also explores MISI’s continued expansion and the organization’s plans for the future.
Today, MISI serves communities through offices in Roseville, Sacramento, and Fresno while also providing services in additional areas. As the organization continues to grow, our focus remains on expanding access, strengthening community partnerships, and finding new ways to support the people and communities we serve.
