Every journey to housing begins with a story. At MISI Community Solutions, we hear these stories every day—stories of families who have been without a home, parents who are tired of moving from place to place, and individuals who just want a safe space to begin again.
A Place to Begin Again
One mother told us that after months of living in her car, she felt hopeless. When she connected with a MISI Housing Navigator, she didn’t just receive help filling out forms—she received encouragement. Step by step, they searched for housing together. When her deposit was finally approved, she said, “I feel like I can breathe again. My kids will finally have a bed of their own.”
She is not alone. Each month, hundreds of people across Sacramento and nearby counties are moving forward with the help of MISI. Through Medi-Cal health plans like Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, and Molina Healthcare, families are receiving support for deposits, furniture, and housing navigation. In the last quarter alone, over $640,000 in deposits were approved for members in our region. That’s hundreds of doors opened and lives changed.
Navigators Who Listen
Our Navigators do more than connect people to apartments—they listen. Many of the people we serve don’t have anyone else to share their struggles with. Sometimes, what begins as a housing appointment turns into a much-needed conversation. Members often say their Navigator feels like a guide, a coach, and even a friend who believes in them when no one else does.
Working Together with the Community
Housing is never built alone. We are proud to work with property managers like KJAX Property Management and Cornerstone Residential Management, who open their doors to families searching for stability. Together, we are also preparing for the future—expanding into temporary shelters, transitional housing, and affordable apartments so even more people can find safety.
